It was carried in a local paper, but the school never made any mention of hi9m. He was a CL1 bench player.

Maybe it was announced prematurely and it fell through? My kids aren't old enough for such things yet, so I don't know how the whole signing process works.

I can only go from our own signing experience, and I can say that we all enter this process not completely understanding it. To a degree, we learn as we go and through the mistakes we make or the ones we hear about. I think I would give this kid the benefit of the doubt and just assume the situation was a result of navigating a process that is complex and frequently changes. I just have to believe this kid and his family thought he had a verbal commitment and something fell through. As my daughter was going through the recruiting process, I found this, and it had some helpful information. It doesn't mention when it was written, but it doesn't mention ECNL, so I would think that it is a bit dated. But, much of the information is still applicable today. www.sambasoccer.org/college/mcneish_article_1.htm
